GRANUAILE TRAIL. No 16

Hen's Castle, Lough Corrib, County Galway. Originally named Cock's Castle after Granuaile's first husband, Donal O'Flaherty, who died defending it against the Joyce Clan. Granuaile re-captured the castle from the Joyce's and was renamed 'Hen's Castle' in memory of her daring.
