★GRACE O'MALLEY - EMBASSY OF IRELAND LONDON★

Delighted to have taken part at the St Brigid's Day celebrations at the Irish Embassy in London on Friday 1 February.

Many thanks to Ambassador O'Neill and the Embassy staff for their welcome and kind hospitality.

It was a privilege to bring Grace O'Malley, the original female Irish trailblazer, back to London after 400 years.
And with such a positive reaction to her story from the large audience present.

A special thanks to my 'crew' for the evening - the wonderful Roisin Ingle for chairing my interview, to Olwen Fouere for her incisive portrayal of both Grace O'Malley and Queen

Elizabeth I from my play Matriarchs and to the modern-day Grace - the intrepid Joan Mulloy from Westport - who plans to sail solo around the World in 2020.

★GRACE O'MALLEY IN LONDON★

As part of the celebration of St Brigid's Day on 1 February at the Irish Embassy in London author Anne Chambers will be interviewed before an invited audience by Roisin Ingle, Irish Times Correspondent, on 'Grace O'Malley - The Woman Behind the Legend'

'I am delighted to bring the true story of Grace O'Malley back to London, where she made such an impact over four hundred years ago,' Anne said,
'and especially now at this time when she shines as an inspirational beacon to what women everywhere can achieve, like her, even in the most deamanding and difficult environments.'

Excerpts from Anne's play Matriarchs, about the meeting of Grace O'Malley and Queen Elizabeth 1, part of which was first showcased in the Town Hall Theatre Westport in Feile Cuan Modh last year, will also be performed at the event by the celebrated actress Olwen Fouere.
